SANDF Member Shot Dead in Delft, Suspects Still at Large

Detectives in Delft are investigating a case of murder following the fatal shooting of a member of the South African National Defence Force in Delft South on Wednesday evening.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg confirmed that preliminary investigations indicate the 37-year-old victim was off duty at the time of the incident and had no links to Operation Prosper.

“Upon arrival on the scene, officers found a 37-year-old male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation. The suspect or suspects fled the scene and have not yet been arrested,” Twigg said.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and police have launched a manhunt for those responsible.

Authorities have appealed to anyone with information to come forward. Tip-offs can be shared via Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or anonymously through the MySAPS mobile application.
