Kathrada memorial organisers haul ANCYL to court

Organisers of the Ahmed Kathrada memorial in Durban are proceeding with court action against the ANC Youth League in KwaZulu-Natal.

The league has failed to apologise for disrupting the struggle veteran’s memorial service.

The Active Citizens’ Movement had given the league a deadline to apologise by Saturday afternoon.

But the Youth League maintains it won’t apologise, claiming its behaviour is justifiable.

Instead, it’s requested a meeting with the Active Citizens’ Movement to discuss the matter.

League members heckled ANC Treasurer Zweli Mkhize and former finance Minister Pravin Gordhan as they tried to deliver their speeches.

The organisation says it won’t meet with the Youth League until it issues an unconditional apology.
