Iran announced that it had deployed a new air defence system to shoot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone near the Strait of Hormuz earlier this week — an incident experts say demonstrates Tehran’s continued ability to counter US and Israeli strikes despite ongoing attacks on its military infrastructure.
Speaking to VOC News, Press TV journalist Alireza Kamandi said the newly unveiled defence system was specifically designed to target advanced enemy aircraft, including ultra-modern drones and F-35 fighter jets.
“This is proof that Iranian systems are capable, contrary to the enemy’s belief that Iran lacked the ability to counter such drones. The drone, identified by its serial number, belonged to the Zionist enemy,” added Kamandi.
