A collective of civil society organisations, Social Intifada, has denounced the way Al-Majd Europe, an alleged Israeli-backed organisation that facilitated the evacuation of Palestinians, handled the arrival of 153 Palestinians in South Africa.
“They were taken out of Gaza with no belongings, no support, and no understanding of where they were being sent. Moved through an Israeli military base, placed on a flight without exit stamps, and delivered into uncertainty. Their journey was not a rescue; it was forced removal under the guise of compassion,” said Social Intifada.
The group added: “Sending Palestinians out without documentation was deliberate, ensuring confusion and distress upon arrival. Even in escape, the violence followed them. They are not illegal immigrants—they entered South Africa lawfully, with valid passports, and have been granted legal status and safe passage for a recognised period.”
Social Intifada also raised concerns over Al-Majd Europe’s conduct, alleging the organisation extracted money from desperate civilians and calling for a formal investigation.
“And the delay by the Border Management Authority, leaving traumatised families waiting for hours on a plane, demands reflection. Their suffering should never have been prolonged by hesitation,” the group said.
The organisation expressed gratitude to civil society groups and activists who responded swiftly to ensure the families were welcomed with dignity.
