The United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) convened a three-day Municipal Elections Indaba in Johannesburg.
The Indaba formed part of the ongoing initiatives of the UUCSA Political Committee, a broad-based platform established to facilitate structured engagement between the Muslim community and public representatives on policy, governance, and public interest matters.
The Committee brought together a diverse range of stakeholders, including members of the Ulama, representatives of Muslim organisations, business leaders, professionals, academics, and civil society actors. Through consultation and collaboration, the platform sought to develop informed consensus positions on key national, provincial, and local issues affecting South Africans.
By fostering dialogue and collective participation, the Committee aimed to ensure that the perspectives and concerns of the Muslim community contributed meaningfully to public discourse and policymaking processes.
Speaking to VOC News, Fazlin Fransman, member of UUCSA Political Strategy Committee, shared insights into the conference’s deliberations and highlighted the key takeaways for stakeholders and the broader community.
