Western Cape police have offered a cash reward of up to R50,000 for information that could lead to the arrest of suspects responsible for the murder of a Ghanaian national who was killed last month, allegedly in connection with his refusal to pay a protection fee in Nyanga.

According to police spokesperson Thembakazi Mpendukana, Nyanga police members responded to a shooting incident on 29 June 2026, at about 15:45 pm, in which Bashira Issaka, 35, a male Ghanaian national, was shot and killed inside his red container business premises by suspects who were demanding a protection fee from him.

“The investigating officer is exploring all avenues in a bid to bring the perpetrators to book and reaches out to the community for assistance. Identities of those who offer their assistance will remain anonymous. A cash reward is offered for the successful arrest and conviction of the suspects,” said Mpendukana.

Mpendukana has urged anyone with any information who can assist with the investigation to kindly to contact the investigating officer Sergeant Donovan Peterson of Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes on 084 684 0909 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
