Oil spill forces closure of some beaches around Mossel Bay

LOCAL Disaster management officials from the Garden Route District Municipality say some beaches in Mossel Bay in the Western Cape have been closed due to an oil spill. Officials have not found the source of the spill yet, but they are investigating. Body of sailor found on yacht off Mossel Bay coast

The South African Maritime Safety Authority (Samsa) says the body of a sailor has been found on board a yacht off Mossel Bay on the south coast. Samsa Spokesperson Tebogo Ramatjie says a report was received on Friday by passing vessels following an alert. A teen has drowned and a man is missing after falling off a cliff in the Western Cape this weekend

A teen died on Saturday and a 23-year-old man is missing in separate incidents in Mossel Bay at the weekend. The 13-year-old drowned on Saturday despite interventions by paramedics at De Bakke Beach in the Western Cape.
