Calls Grow for Government Action After South Africans Detained in Gaza Aid Flotilla Interception

Calls are mounting for government intervention following the interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla en route to the Gaza Strip carrying humanitarian aid. South African nationals aboard the vessels were reportedly detained in international waters and may now be facing detention in Israel. VOC became the first Muslim radio station in South Africa when a special events license was granted to the station in Ramadan/January 1995. Subsequent temporary broadcast licenses were granted, permitting the station to broadcast for 24 hours.
