Global Green Economy Set to Surpass R119 Trillion by 2035

A new report from the World Economic Forum highlights the rapid growth of the global green economy, now valued at R85 trillion annually and projected to surpass R119 trillion within the next decade. The study notes that, despite economic uncertainties worldwide, investment in green technologies continues to climb, with green markets expanding faster than most sectors, second only to technology. Companies generating significant revenue from sustainable products and services are reaping the benefits, including faster growth, lower borrowing costs, and higher valuations.

The report attributes much of the acceleration to falling technology costs, driven primarily by China’s substantial investments in clean energy. Experts say this trend is reshaping global industries, creating opportunities for businesses and investors who embrace sustainability, while pushing nations to adopt greener policies to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving economic landscape.
