ActionSA asserts that the City of Cape Town has violated its licensing terms concerning the release of sewage into the sea

As residents and environmental advocates are alert to rising health and ecological dangers following the sewage release at Cape Town’s beaches, political party ActionSA has openly condemned the City. The party has filed an appeal with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment to prevent the City from granting new sewage discharge licenses.

Speaking to VOC News, Mayco Member for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, stated that the party was quite “liberal” in their comparison of the City and Etikweni, asserting that “it was not the same thing” and that several of their assertions were inaccurate.

“They were incorrect in claiming that the marine outfalls caused the closure of Camps Bay Beach when, in reality, the beach remained open,” he said.

VOC became the first Muslim radio station in South Africa when a special events license was granted to the station in Ramadan/January 1995. Subsequent temporary broadcast licenses were granted, permitting the station to broadcast for 24 hours.
