Arsenal fans protest against Stan Kroenke before their defeat by Everton

Moments before the Arsenal and Everton clash on Friday evening thousand of Arsenal supporters protested outside Emirates Stadium . Protestors demanding Stan Kroenke be removed from his position and to leave the club after the clubs involvement in the failed European Super League scandal

Arsenal and Everton team buses arrived to avoid all disruption at the stadium and prior to the competition Arsenal fans were warned about adhering to coronavirus protocols outside the stadium

On a sky report news bulletin Mikel Arteta brushed off suggestions that the protest had impacted his side’s preparations for their match against Everton, telling Sky Sports: “Well we hear it, we know what they [the fans] think but our responsibility should be on trying the best possible way to play the match, and that’s it. “Well, obviously it doesn’t help when you have your fans standing out there on a matchday and saying loud and clear to us they’re not happy with something. But our job again is to win the football match and when that happens everything is better.”

The demonstration follows similar gatherings from fans at Elland Road on Monday night before Leeds’ 1-1 draw with Liverpool, and a large number of Chelsea fans who protested outside Stamford Bridge on Tuesday before the Blues’ game against Brighton.

If you want change at Arsenal then make your voice heard, make your feelings known, but do it safely with respect to others around you. Make people remember the message: #KroenkeOut #FansIn

In reports on Thursday, Venkatesham also confirmed to the fans’ forum that he telephoned the other 14 Premier League clubs not involved to say sorry for the Gunners’ decision to join the Super League.

Mike Arteta lamented another poor VAR decision, Arsenal were awarded a penalty in the second period when Dani Ceballos went to ground after a challenge from Richarlison but the decision was overturned after a VAR check ruled Nicolas Pepe was offside in the build-up.

Everton beat Arsenal 1-0.
