The former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, is currently in exile in India and facing a trial for crimes against humanity. Hasina received a death sentence following a prolonged trial that determined she was guilty of orchestrating a lethal suppression of last year’s uprising.
Southeast Asia analyst Junaid Ahmed told VOC News that following the conclusion of her ruling, civilians continue to harbor resentment towards her and have shown a great eagerness to seek accountability.
“Attempts have been undertaken to hold Hasina and her allies responsible for the war crimes.” “At present, the area is undergoing a change in leadership while Hasina has not received her sentence yet,” Ahmed remarked.
In his interview with VOC News on the PM Drive show, he explored Hasina’s sentence and the implications of this decision since India has not yet extradited her to Bangladesh.
