Kraaifontein Police Investigate Vigilante-Style Triple Murder

Police in Kraaifontein have launched a manhunt following a suspected vigilante-style killing in Wallacedene on Wednesday night, in which three men were murdered and their bodies set alight.

The incident comes in the same week that six people were gunned down in separate shootings in the area.

Police spokesperson Colonel André Traut confirmed the attack.

“At approximately 22:00, police were alerted to the incident in Laboheme Street, Wallacedene, where the bodies of the victims were discovered. Preliminary information suggests that the victims were accused by community members of criminal activity. Instead of allowing the law to take its course, they were violently attacked,” he said.

Traut strongly condemned the act, warning against mob justice.

“The South African Police Service condemns vigilantism in the strongest possible terms. Taking the law into one’s own hands is a criminal offence, and those who participate in such acts will be prosecuted,” he stressed.

Police have appealed to the public for assistance in tracing the suspects.
