Hamas welcomes the resolution issued by The Hague Group, which includes sanctions against the Israeli occupation

Over 30 countries gather in Bogotá to push for coordinated action against Israeli offensive in Gaza

More than 30 states from around the world convened in Bogotá, Colombia, on 15 and 16 July 2025 in a multilateral effort to halt Israel’s ongoing military offensive in Gaza.

The Bogotá Conference: Holding Israel Accountable

The Emergency Conference—jointly convened by Colombia and South Africa as co-chairs of The Hague Group—aimed to transform global condemnation into coordinated legal and diplomatic action.

“The Bogotá conference will go down as the moment in history that states finally stood up to do the right thing,” said UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, describing it as the “most significant political development of the last 20 months.”

Roshan Dadoo of the South African Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) Coalition spoke on VOC’s PM Drive show, noting that the inclusion of European countries such as Ireland, Spain, and Portugal marked a significant shift.

“Those countries are looking more closely at what action they can take—not because they necessarily want to, but due to people power such as the BDS movements and the Palestine Solidarity Campaigns that have been active,” remarked Dadoo.

According to an official statement, members of The Hague Group have already taken concrete steps to challenge what they describe as Israeli aggression against Palestinians and to fulfil their obligations under international law. The eight founding members—Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Honduras, Malaysia, Namibia, Senegal, and South Africa—made three key commitments:

1. To uphold UN Resolution A/RES/ES-10/24 and implement the provisional measures of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued on 26 January, 28 March, and 24 May 2024.

2. To prevent the provision or transfer of arms, munitions, and related equipment to Israel.

3. To prohibit the docking of vessels at any port within their jurisdiction if there is a clear risk the vessel is transporting military fuel or weaponry to Israel.

The Resolution

The Palestinian resistance group Hamas welcomed the resolution issued by The Hague Group, which includes sanctions against the Israeli occupation.

“This includes the prohibition of weapons and ammunition supply, review of existing agreements with it, and facilitating international investigations into crimes committed in the Gaza Strip,” said Hamas.

“This position represents a living expression of the free global conscience that rejects the war crimes and brutal violations committed by the fascist occupation entity against our Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, where the humanitarian tragedy has reached its peak due to massacres, starvation, and the blocking of basic life necessities,” stressed the resistance.

The group called on all countries to act in isolating the Israeli occupation forces.

“Impose more punitive measures on it, leading to a halt of its aggression and crimes against innocent civilians, as well as the ongoing genocide in Gaza,” added Hamas.
