Woman arrested, R7million worth of Tik seized

A woman has been arrested in Montague Gardens for dealing in Tik with a street value of over R7 million, Cape Town police said on Tuesday.

“Information was received about a suspicious parcel… at Time Freight in Montague Gardens,” Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana said in a statement.

When police went to the site on Monday, they found a parcel containing 42 kilograms of methamphetamine — commonly known in South Africa as Tik –with a street value of R7,561,000.

“As the suspect, a 32-year-old woman, went to collect the shipment, she was arrested.”

The woman will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on charges relating to dealing in drugs. SAPA
