Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has stated that Iran will not negotiate with the United States.
This follows an update speech by US President Donald Trump. In the speech, Trump applauded the American military for their killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and stated that operations would not conclude until objectives were met.
The US president has not categorically stated what these objectives are. Instead, he reiterated one of the justifications for the conflict, which is to protect the American populace.
“These actions are right and necessary to ensure that Americans will never have to face a radical, bloodthirsty, terrorist regime armed with nuclear weapons and numerous threats,” said Trump.
At the conclusion of his update, the US president issued an ultimatum to the Iranian regime, threatening Iranian forces with certain death if they do not surrender.
“I once again urge the Revolutionary Guard, the Iranian military, and police to lay down your arms and receive full immunity, or face certain death. It will be certain death; it won’t be pretty,” Trump warned.
