A group of Khoi and San traditional leaders, who are in support of the construction of Amazon’s new headquarters in Africa, is appealing a ruling by the High Court in Cape Town on Thursday.
The court interdicted the project developer from continuing with construction until meaningful engagement and consultation with affected indigenous peoples happen.
The construction is set to cost R4.6 billion, however, the development is being built on land that is sacred to the Khoi and the San people.
Traditional leader Petrus Vaalbooi says he fully supports the development.
