An Afghan official says an attack on a police checkpoint in the southern province of Kandahar has killed five policemen. The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack.

Zia Durani, the spokesman for the provincial police chief, says the attack happened late on Sunday in Maiwand district and that an investigation is underway.

Durani says there are indications one or more of the attackers wore a police uniform. Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi claimed responsibility for the attack in a message to the media.

The Taliban have stepped up their attacks on Afghan soldiers and security forces in recent months. U.S. and NATO forces concluded their combat mission at the end of last year and Afghan troops took full charge of the country’s security. SAPA

  1. its apparent that where-ever and when-ever, especially in muslim lands or the middle east, the usa or its minions are involved that a country will suffer disintegration killings on a wide scale and destruction, thats the price you pay for their "protection", even calls for democracy from within the countries are allowed to be stifled or even suppressed by the usa, those in "reasonable" security will have this damnation rained on them in time,

the only notable countries are ones who stand up to the usa but even those are being punished for their obstinacy, vide syria, and the global terrorist cabal is now targeting iran

mostly because its the only country giving real support to the palestinians against israel

so in afghanistan the usa saudis pakistan created armed trained supported the taliban, now ditto all its morphings ie al qaeda boko haram al nusra isil isil and now the so-called islamic state, whom they bomb in certain areas only because they overstepped their task,

in iraq i.s are bombed, israel bombs syria, but i.s are allowed free reign in syria

those who support/ed the fsa and the i.s and its antecedents isis isil al nusra fsa etc are just as guilty…..
