SA’s economy grows by 0.6% in the second quarter: Stats SA

Data released by Statistics South Africa shows that the country’s economy grew by 0.6% in the second quarter of 2023 from 0.4% in the first quarter. Contribution to the marginal improvement came from the agriculture, manufacturing, mining, finance and personal service industries among others. Load shedding adversely impacting manufacturing sector

Data published by Statistics South Africa reflects the adverse impact of load shedding and muted global economic growth on the manufacturing sector. Manufacturing production decreased by 1.1% in November 2022, compared with November 2021.
