Morocco navy rescues 359 irregular migrants

The Moroccan navy has rescued 359 irregular migrants in the three days from Saturday to Monday, the official news agency MAP reported Tuesday. MAP quoted an unnamed military source as saying that the Coast Guard units intercepted and rescued 359 irregular migrants, including ten women and four children, who were on dinghies and that most of them are from sub-Saharan Africa. Table Mountain rescues reached record high in 2016

Rescuers were busier than ever on Table Mountain in 2016, with a record number of hikers needing help, Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR) said on Monday. Spokesperson Johann Marais said that last year at least 170 incidents were recorded. This equated to about 850 hours, or 35 days, of rescue time.
