Chief defendant in Rafik Hariri killing convicted on all counts by UN-backed tribunal

The UN-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) on Tuesday found Salim Jamil Ayyash guilty of conspiracy to kill former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri and 21 others in a 2005 bombing. There was insufficient evidence against three other men charged as accomplices in the bombing and they were acquitted, the tribunal found.
