History for Cape Muslims as first jumuah held at Castle

In a historic moment for the Cape Muslim community, the melodious verses of the Quran echoed through the chambers of the Castle of Good Hope, as hundreds came together for the first Jumuah prayer on Friday. VOC became the first Muslim radio station in South Africa when a special events license was granted to the station in Ramadan/January 1995. Subsequent temporary broadcast licenses were granted, permitting the station to broadcast for 24 hours.
