Blaze in Belhar leave several displaced

Twenty people were left displaced after several informal structures were destroyed in a fire in Belhar yesterday afternoon. According to the City of Cape Town's Fire and Rescue Service Spokesperson Jermaine Carelse, local firefighters managed to contain and extinguish the blaze that destroyed approximately seven informal structures. Two women suffered smoke inhalation and were treated by medics. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage. VOC

Belhar residents outraged as two-year-old falls victim to gang violence

LOCAL Belhar residents have expressed outrage after a two-year-old boy became the latest gang-related fatality last night. A Belhar family is in shock after a fire claimed the lives of two children in Chestnut way in Belhar. It’s believed a 5 year old boy Ziyaad and one year old girl, Zarah died in the blaze.
