Family rallies to save brothers with rare genetic disorder through bone marrow drives

By Ragheema Mclean In June, brothers Abu-Talib (7) and Ayyub (4) from Constantia were diagnosed with Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a rare genetic brain disorder with a very poor prognosis. Their only hope for survival lies in undergoing bone marrow transplants. VOC became the first Muslim radio station in South Africa when a special events license was granted to the station in Ramadan/January 1995. Subsequent temporary broadcast licenses were granted, permitting the station to broadcast for 24 hours.
