Ses’khona leader shot in drive-by

Ses’khona People’s Rights Movement leader Andile Lile was shot in a drive by shooting in Khayelitsha late on Wednesday night. Lile apparently survived four shots to the stomach, allegedly by two assasins. He is in a serious yet stable condition at Tygerberg hospital. Police have not confirmed the incident.

Lili and fellow activist Loyiso Nkohla, the leader of the so-called “poo protestors” were both suspended from the ANC for their extreme action. They have led continuous service delivery protests against the Democratic Alliance-led Western Cape government.

Ses’khona says a planned protest in the city will go ahead today. The ANC this week issued a stern warning to Seskhona not to march. Ses’khona claims the ANC is trying to sabotage a partnership it has with Prasa, which will effectively create 25,000 jobs in the next five years. Ses’khona spokesman Sithembele Majova told VOC Breakfast Beat the attack on  Lile was an “intimidation tactic” to not go forth with the march. VOC
