Scholars for joint plan to fight terror

Islamic scholars on Wednesday called for an integrated strategic plan and cooperation with the international community to combat terrorism and recommended efforts to defuse regional conflicts.

In a communique issued at the end of a three-day International Islamic Conference on “Islam and Combating Terror” organized by the Muslim World League (MWL), the scholars also called for boosting Islamic solidarity and assisting poor countries to fight poverty and unemployment as these encourage terrorist organizations to exploit those youth mired in deprivation.

The communique called for the establishment of research centers on combating terror which will collect information on terrorist acts, analyze it and provide it to the authorities concerned.

The communique called for supporting religious call (dawah) institutions and helping them disseminate the philosophy of moderation.

The scholars called for supporting the Kingdom’s efforts at the UN to issue a binding resolution to denounce those who insult religions and malign their symbols.

The communique also called for spreading correct Shariah knowledge derived from the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah and boosting the approach of moderation.  SAUDI GAZETTE
