Rajie Devajee co-hosts Showtime on Saturday evenings from 9pm to Midnight with Ismail Philander.

How would you sum up your show?
Showtime is entertaining and relaxing, offering exposure to new local talent while paying tribute to community icons and leaders.

What else do you at VOC?
I am also a member of the VOC Community Forum and assist with religious outside broadcasts.

After so many years in radio, what still inspires you?

Interaction with listeners and the ability to keep informing and educating people. It is also a powerful insentive when you realise that because of the information you provide, some listeners revert to Islam.

Any memorable interviews or features you have done?
The most memorable interview late I did was with Sheik Salie Deen before he died. In my view, no one followed in his footsteps in terms of demeanour, behavior and respect.

Which direction would you like your show to take in the future?
Our only goal is to keep our listeners awake with fun and laughter. But it is also about being part of one big family where listeners can feel at home on the number one radio station in Cape Town.

What does the VOC mean to you?
It is a marketing tool, but also keeps me company as a listener. For me it is always a pleasure listening to VOC.

  1. Asalamu Alaykum

I live in durban and listen to the radio on my phone. I came to the station to meet. You all. They made me a copy of a few thikrs. Since I’ve been home I listen to it whole day.

    Shukran so much.
