Light Upon Light Women’s Foundation to transform communities

While South Africa has in recent years battled socioeconomic constraints, a new initiative seeks to quell the general malaise within the country. The Light Upon Light Foundation, which is a Cape Town Based initiative, drives many programmes by considering the various phases of a women’s life and the accompanied challenges.

While the foundation has been in existence for the past 10 years, it has recently decided to expand in a bid to harness the strength of a female; syncing her heart, mind in order to radiate her natural light.

Speaking to VOC, one of the founding members, Mualimah Roshaan Misbach explains that the foundation is aimed at addressing a woman’s needs across her lifespan and igniting her intrinsic abilities.

She says that as the light of homes, when the light of a woman connects with the light of Allah, the effects can reach the darkest of places.

“We believe that a woman, who can change her own environment, can change the world.”

Misbach says that by working together in developing youth, nurturing families and building communities, women can make a positive impact within their communities.

“We want the community to become part of the change and not the problem. We are going to invite you to join our organization,” she added.

In addition to the launch of the foundation, the organization will be launching their Muslimah Calendar, which will list twelve different sahabiyaat.
