A 25 year old man fell to his death while hiking up Lion’s Head on Wednesday morning.the SA Red Cross Air Mercy Service (AMS) public relations officer Vaneesa Horn confirmed that a 25 year old male died. He was hiking with his 5 year old son and his fiancé at the time.
Little is known about the cause of the death at this stage.
“He stood close to edge when he fell. Little is known about the cause of the death,” says Horn.
A Western Cape Department of Health EMS Rescue helicopter was dispatched to the scene just before 7am.
“When the rescue helicopter arrived on scene the emergency medical services were already there,” says Horn.
The man was declared dead by emergency medical services.
The airlifted body was handed over to South African Police Services (SAPS) who will continue with investigations. The deceased wife is undergoing trauma counselling. VOC
