The South African Weather Service has warned again of extremely high fire danger conditions expected in places over the central and eastern interior of the Northern Cape, the extreme western parts of the North West province and the Free State, as well as in the Great Karoo of the Western Cape.

In the north eastern parts of the Eastern Cape, there are also severe thunderstorms expected.

The Western Cape and parts of the central and northern interior have expected relentless hot and dry conditions over the weekend and on Monday, threatening another heatwave in the country.

A heat wave is when for three days the maximum temperature is five degrees higher than the mean maximum for the hottest month, and South Africa has seen several of these in the first month of 2016.

The South African Weather Services has warned that while hot, dry conditions aren’t as severe as the heatwaves experienced earlier this year, people should still take regular dehydration precautions.NEWS24
