Health Dept launches complaints management call center

The Office of Health Standards Compliance has launched a national complaints management call centre in Pretoria aimed at resolving health related complaints. Chairperson of the OHSC  Lizo Mazwai and Health Ombudsman Malegapuru Makgoba officiated at the launch. Makgoba says the call centre aims to bring about accountability and restore the dignity of health users in private and public health facilities as demanded by the Constitution.

“Some of us, our dignity was taken away. It didn’t actually matter and part of restoring that in the health system is the attitude that you encounter when you go to hospital. So that’s a very important issue and we have to confront it all the time; And from where I stand I can see just the complaints that are coming they are often around issues of attitude and we need to restore that and be firm about it and tackle it as such.”
