Four children were given medical treatment after they nearly drowned in three separate incidents at Camps Bay beach on New Year’s day, the NSRI said.
Just before 11am, a four-year-old girl was rescued by a member of the public after she nearly drowned in the tidal pool, National Sea Rescue Institute spokesman Craig Lambinon said in a statement.
“In a separate incident at the same time, community medics and ER24 ambulance services treated a 10-year-old female after she was knocked over by a wave at Camps Bay beach,” he said.
Both girls were in a stable condition and taken to hospital for treatment and observation.
Shortly afterwards, two girls, aged four and eight, were treated for shock and cold after they were knocked over by waves. SAPA
