A young couple and three children between the ages of three months and four years old died in an accident on the N1 near the Sable Road turnoff on Christmas morning.

“The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and collided with a lamp post on the side of the street across from Canal Walk Shopping Centre,” said Pieter Rossouw, ER24 spokesperson.

“All five passengers were ejected from the vehicle,” he said.

The young couple, in their mid-twenties, and the three children all sustained fatal injuries, he said.

“The vehicle was extremely damaged. The cause of the incident is still unknown, however local authorities are on scene for further investigation,” Rossouw said. PEOPLES POST
