E-hailing drivers, customers urged to be vigilant amid armed robberies

LOCAL

Uber has encouraged delivery drivers and customers to be vigilant and report instances of a new criminal trend. The e-hailing service says it has noticed incidents wherein drivers delivering goods to people’s homes are targeted by a group of armed criminals. The goods as well as their phones and vehicles are then stolen. Uber says engagements are underway with SAPS to improve safety and customers are advised to wait for their packages inside their homes.
