Daesh video shows Iraqi army’s losses in Mosul

Iraqi army and the Shia-dominated Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) have suffered heavy losses during the Daesh-led offensive raids in the vicinity of Al-Salam Hospital, Daesh revealed in a video published on its official website.

AlkhaleejOnline reported that the video, which was originally published by Daesh’s Amaq news agency, showed that dozens of cars and armoured vehicles were destroyed, some of which belonged to Iraqi forces and the others belonged to the PMF.

Daesh launched a surprise counterattack against Iraqi forces and the PMF yesterday morning, one day after the latter took control of Al-Salam Hospital.

Sources said the Iraqi forces and the Shia militias withdrew from the site as a result of the intense attacks by Daesh.

Daesh used car bombs and suicide fighters to launch its attacks, Iraqi forces were unable to counter the assault.

Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city, was seized by Daesh two years ago. The Iraqi army, allied with Shia militias and Kurdish Peshmerga forces, launched an operation to liberate the city from the terrorist group on 17 October. A US-led coalition is providing aerial support for the local ground troops.
