Cele condemns cop killings at memorial of Kraaifontein officers

Police Minister Bheki Cele says the continuous killing of police officers will not be tolerated. He says seven police officers were killed in KZN and the Western Cape in the past 15 days.

He’s addressed a memorial service of two police officers, Sergeant Mnakwazo Mdoko and Constable Mninawa Breafast, who were gunned down near Kraaifontein in Cape Town this past weekend.

Their service pistols were also taken. Cele has called on ordinary members of the public and the media to condemn incidents of police killings.

Police union POPCRU in the Western Cape (also)  condemned the on-going killings of police in the province. Provincial chairperson Conwe Flink called for an increase in the danger allowance given to police officers. Police Minister Bheki Cele is also expected to speak at the event.
