Three men accused of the rape and murder of 16-year-old Franziska Blöchliger are expected to apply for bail in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

The teenager’s body was found in Tokai forest on March 7.

She had arranged to meet her mother after going for a jog, but when she failed to turn up, her mother raised the alarm.

Within an hour, her body was found. She had been raped, sodomised and strangled. Her iPhone, diamond ring, headset and watch were missing.

Later that night four men were arrested. They face charges of murder, six counts of rape each and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

One of the four accused has abandoned his bail application as he was out on parole at the time of his arrest.

The men appeared in court earlier this month, but the case had to be postponed because of outstanding DNA test results.
