ANC’s Fransman remains defiant

Suspended ANC Chairperson in the Western Cape, Marius Fransman, insists that he’s still the party’s provincial chairperson.

Fransman was suspended for five years following a disciplinary hearing which he did not attend.

One of the charges relates to what the National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) has referred to as the abuse of his office by trying to get a sexual favour from a 21-year-old woman.

The second is for bringing the ANC into disrepute by making public statements.

Fransman says he remains the provincial Chairperson of the ANC since he’ll be appealing the decision of the NDC.

He’s blamed his suspension on factional battles in the organisation, and claims the NDC failed to supply him with documents he requested for his defence.

The ANC in the Western Cape says they’ll wait for the outcome of the appeal.
