Despite not participating in the anti-corruption marches which were held around the country on Wednesday, the ANC has welcomed the initiative.
ANC spokesperson Zizi Kodwa said in a statement that the ANC had always said corruption was a “societal issue that requires societal rejection and action”.
“We add our voice that society must not tolerate corruption and must continue with this initiative by exposing it wherever it rears its ugly head.”
He said the ANC and government remained committed to working with broad societal organisations to promote zero tolerance to corruption.
The anti-corruption marches were taking place in Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban.
The marches were organised by several civil society organisations.
The common message at the marches was that people needed to stop talking about corruption and act against it.
Those present at the marches blamed government for not doing enough to stop it. News24
