Gaza gears up for the holy month of Ramadan

Amid escalating tensions in the Gaza Strip, the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza is preparing for the holy month, as Palestinian families observe Ramadan in their tents.

Images circulating online show simple ornaments hanging from the camp’s worn ceilings, complemented by vibrant artwork on the fabric walls — decorations residents have created to mark the beginning of the holy month.

Speaking to VOC News, Gaza-based English lecturer and activist Abeer Barakat shared insight into the atmosphere as missiles rain down over the heads of Palestinian families.
