Fun walk for Gatesville-Rylands residents

It is all systems go for the inaugural “Know Your Neighbour –Know Your Health” Civic Fun Walk taking place this Sunday 6 November from 09h00am until 12h00pm at the Habibia Primary School complex. According to the Rylands-Gatesville Civic Association (RGCA) organising committee, the Fun Walk is a family-oriented event catering to all fitness levels with a 2.5km and 5km fun walk option. There will also be a Nappy Dash for younger residents.

The Rylands-Gatesville Civic Association is an independent body that represents the Rylands Estate and Gatesville community. The body comprises of residents, businesses and institutions who are working together to improve the quality of living in the area.

“We are the neighbourhood’s link to local government, taking up issues pertaining to physical infrastructure, safety and security and economic development that will ultimately help build a stronger, more harmonious community we are all proud of,” says chairperson Sataar Parker.

rgca-fun-walk-flyerEntry to the Fun Walk is free and participants stand a chance of winning a weekend away for a couple to the Arabella Hotel and Spa in the lucky draw which will be presented by singing sensation, Selim Kagee.

There will be a number of food stalls selling a variety of foods catering to every palate and includes vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes such as braai platters, ice-cream and so much more. Parker appealed to the community to support the Fun Walk event.

“Our team has organised a jam-packed programme and we really want to urge residents to come and relax and enjoy the morning with us.”

“The food stalls will be located at the Habibia complex and, if the RGCA raises sufficient funds, it hopes to make a contribution to an NGO that supports cancer research,” Parker added.
